Does Bloomberg Only Care About Manhattan and the Marathon ?

Noreen, from Dyker Heights, called into NY1 The Call tonight. She said that the impression that people, who live in Staten Island and Queens, where there was major damage from Hurricane Sandy, have is that Mayor Michael Bloomberg only cares about meeting the emergency needs of the people in Manhattan. Noreen also said that Mayor Bloomberg only cares about using the city's limited resources to make sure that the New York City Marathon takes place, instead of helping the rescue and relief efforts of those residents, who are suffering the most, who are on the coastline.

Noreen's call followed an emotional call from Karen, from Tottenville, Staten Island, who said that thieves were dressing up as firefighters and Con Edison workers, so that they can rob items from destroyed houses.

NEW YORK (WABC) -- Mayor Bloomberg got a mixed reception while marching in the Queens County Saint Patrick's Day Parade on Saturday.

Some vocal critics jeered the mayor for his decision to publicize teacher evaluations.

The mayor also had some supporters along the parade route who said he's doing the best he can under difficult circumstances.

The Queens Crap blog published a post today, indicating that Peninsula Hospital Center had filed a 90-day closure plan, a requirement under the law that was violated when St. Vincent's Hospital closed on April 30, 2010.

Meanwhile, following the illegal closing of St. Vincent's Hospital last year, there reamins only one hospital south of 16th Street in Manhattan, New York Downtown Hospital, which The New York Post has reported as being ''overwhelmed,'' and is leading to an ''emergency-care crisis,'' the newspaper reports.
