The activist and blogger Louis Flores has created a Kickstarter project to raise funds to publish his forthcoming book about the politics and ethics of New York City Council Speaker Christine Quinn.
“I am writing a book that will take a behind the scenes look at Christine Quinn's politics and ethics. I aim to show you how a politician, who claims to be transparent and ethical, has demonstrated herself to be just the opposite,” said Louis Flores.

Weeks after Mayor Michael Bloomberg proposed major FDNY budget cuts, which included the mayor's annual threat to close firehouses, a dangerous fire on the 89th floor of 1 World Trade Center reminded everybody about the threats to public safety that the mayor's reckless budget cuts would cause.

Meanwhile, Mayor Michael Bloomberg of New York announced his latest budget cuts to FDNY and a new list of proposed firehouse closings. "Look, see ? We don't need all these firehouses in Queens and Brooklyn, we have superhero people like Cory Booker, who save lives on their time off. We just have to find a way to make Mayor Booker to move to Long Island City," Mayor Bloomberg said.
Even as he tries to lay-off firefighters and close firehouses, NYC Mayor Mike Bloomberg accuses Congress of disrespecting 9/11 first responders.
''Mayor Michael Bloomberg is lashing out against Congress’s decision to drop a bill to provide health coverage for September 11th first responders,'' reported NY1.
''This is an attack on America,'' Bloomberg said. ''People that went in for rescue and recovery, it’s Americans trying to help Americans, and Congress is unwilling to stand up. They preach patriotism and when it comes down to it, partisan politics.''
While the mayor criticizes Congress for failing to pass a $7.4 billion measure that would have provided health coverage for September 11th first responders, the mayor is, at the same time, trying to layoff firefighters, who provide a critical level of support for public safety and national security here in New York City.

Just look at how petty and small-minded the mayor can be towards FDNY : his disdain toward first responders and rescue workers is inconsistent with how he is now, all of a sudden, criticising Congress and questioning the patriotism of Democrats.
Naturally, this is the same FDNY that the Mayor is trying to gut with his plans for disastrous layoffs, dangerous firehouse closings, and devastating budget cuts.
The closing of St. Vincent's Hospital is occurring during the 2010 Census. Meanwhile, back at the New York State census website, we are told propaganda on the FAQ page that analysis of the census would help determine whether our communities need more hospitals.
Census data is used to determine the need for social services, including community development block grants and other grant programs essential to many communities. Census information helps determine locations for schools, roads, hospitals, child-care and senior centers, and more.
Back to the NY1 exposé article, the importance of St. Vincent's Hospital on the community was analysed by these precious statistics : "St. Vincent's currently employs 3,500 people and averages 60,000 emergency room visits per year."
Sounds like the hospital is needed now, and is pretty vital to the community, now don't it?
What is perhaps New York City's last public clinic that treats adults who suffer from sickle cell anemia is rumoured to be closing.
In another sign that ruthless mayoral dictator for life Michael Bloomberg doesn't give a shit about New Yorkers, an anonymous tipper has submitted information to me that indicates that adults who suffer from sickle cell anemia have perhaps only one city clinic, where they can receive medical treatment. Now, that clinic is slowly unwinding its operations and is rumoured to be closing under Bloomberg's budget.
First firehouses, then the office of Public Advocate, then post offices, and now the clinics that underpin the health of our family, friends, and neighbors : Bloomberg is sick to think that it's O.K. to deny healthcare to New Yorkers, who are vulnerable to illness and disease. I hope everybody is beginning to see clearly how he shows no compassion or remorse when he does away with the important services that we all need.
